Well known for his wildly entertaining stand-up storytelling, parodies, characters and sound effects, Iglesias is a dynamic and engaging comedic genius. Film At Lincoln Center
As part of the annual Lincoln Center Summer for the City program, the Outdoor Film Series is back at Damrosch Park, offering visitors and film enthusiasts special screenings under the stars. The line-up includes Richard Linklater’s romantic saga “Before Sunrise” (June 20), and “Before Sunset” (June 21), the Oscar winner Indian action-packed comedy “RRR” (July 11) and unconventional political comedy “Dick” (July 25) starring Kristen Dunst and Michelle Williams. NJPAC
Kicking off on June 27, the Free Concert Summer Series Horizon Sounds of the City returns to NJPAC with a diverse range of renowned artists and musicians. The weekly events run from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursdays, starting off with the annual celebratory dance party presented by WBGO-FM DJ Felix Hernandez’s “Rhythm Revue Dance Party” on June 27. This year’s impressive lineup includes Brazilian percussionist Cyro Baptista, Afrobeat singer and artist Kofi Kinaata, New Orleans funk band Galactic f. Jelly Joseph, rap icon KRS-One, and New Orleans bounce singer Big Freedia. Some performances will also showcase a guest poet from Dodge Poetry, as well as local opening talent and NJPAC’s student performers. Free. INFO: www.njpac.org
MoMA
On view thru September 22, the Museum of Modern Arts, 11 West 53rd Street, presents a new home design exhibition focused on Latin American artists and based on the evolution and impact proposed by celebrated Cuban-Mexican artist Clara Porset that believed art and industry could synch in modern design. “Crafting Modernity: Design in Latin America, 1940–1980” will show furniture, appliances, posters, textiles, and ceramics, photographs and paintings spanning artists from Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Venezuela, and Brazil such as Roberto Burle Marx, Antonio Bandeira, Oscar Niemeyer and Lina Bo Bardi.
