NY BRAZILIAN FILM SERIES Presents Second Edition this Fall
The NY BRAZILIAN FILM SERIES, after a successful debut in the Spring, is back for its second installment this Fall season. The event will take place at the renowned Cinema Village on November 17 at 5pm, showcasing a variety of Brazilian cultural expressions.
Founded by Roger Costa and presented by Brazilish Productions, the NYBFS is a celebration of Brazilian heritage, culture, history, arts, and identity. It serves as both an entertaining and educational platform for Brazilian culture enthusiasts and residents of New York City.
Roger Costa describes the experience of attending the NYBFS as akin to traveling to Brazil itself. Guests are immersed in Brazilian traditions, rhythms, cuisine, and history right in the heart of NYC.
The event features a diverse range of artistic expressions showcasing various facets of Brazilian culture including film screenings, visual arts exhibitions,
literature readings,dance performances,
design displays,
culinary delights,and live music shows.
New York Brazilian Film Series Announces Spectacular Program
Prepare yourself for the upcoming New York Brazilian Film Series event, featuring a diverse lineup that showcases both new talents and established artists. Among the highlights is the NY Premiere of the award-winning documentary “Belchior – Just A Wild Heart,” directed by Camilo Cavalcante and Natalia Dias. The program will also include a Belchior Tribute by duo Nono Charlie and Henrique Marliere, a percussion performance by Batala NY, and a special Live Art Show by visual artist Tarik Mendes.
This unique event will delve into themes of social resistance and resilience through various performances and presentations. Attendees can enjoy traditional Brazilian food and drinks while being entertained by dancers Lee Rodrigues and Anderson Pinto in an exciting dance session inspired by Belchior’s work followed by a traditional Samba show.
Special Book Release and More!
Another highlight of the event is the book release of Mirian Carlech, an influential voice in the Minas Gerais community. Her book titled “Spike - Um Anjo de Quatro Patas,” tells the heartwarming true story of her family’s bond with their beloved pet dog Spike. Mirian Carlech will be joined on stage by journalist Amadeu Maya to discuss her book and inspirations.
